They told me they fixed the laptop but they could tell I had a bad battery and a bad SSD so my fix would be temp. I started getting BSD after a week of use so I contacted Dell and reviewed whether it was hardware or software. He was able to get laptop to go past the startup and he gave me the BSD codes including a graphics card driver issue showing me the problems and the fixes he implemented.
I got about another weeks use et voila BSD, again! This may have been partially my fault. Once again to the MS store.
I, again, left my laptop and I gave them all the codes and info from Dell. But I insisted on second level support.
A manager got on the phone w me and advised MS would pay for diagnostic BUT she was certain it was hardware and I had to agree to pay for actual repairs. After 20 - 30 mins arguing w the manager, she finally agreed MS would be liable if their software damaged my laptop. When I got the call to retrieve my laptop, the person said it was all fixed, no problems at all with hardware and it was running great.
I requested pickup appointment w the objectionable manager present. I had to reload all my software except MS Office, which they did. I did that in the store in case anything went wrong. Strangely, on the paper ticket from the second level repair firm, in handwriting, was a note about a long scratch on the laptop. Its a mystery - or did a vindictive person handwrite a falsehood on the ticket?
